Dear Ma and Steve,
The censor bars two things today, statements of a causality or casualties, and criticism of the conduct of the Government and its officers so the papers will have to suffice and they are getting better as there appears more truth in these statements of late since I have seen since coming over.
[...]
I can write this much however Steve. No officers or men have done more in the American Campaign than those of the old original Yankee Division. Just stand back of us until we get home and you won't be sorry for it will be there that the truth will be told.
[...]
We are moving next week for Le Mans and then home. Cannot carry any personal equipment so will lose my few souvenirs I guess. The man who won the war appears out of luck all the way round.
[...]
Love,
Bootus
