Dear Ma and Pa:

Why haven't we heard from you more often. You don't think because the War is over that we need no more mail do you . . . WE NEED ENCOURAGEMENT FROM HOME.
[...]

Steve you used to be pretty good at reading between the lines . . . I know you will see through what has been going on.
[...]

We are not nor have not been in the Army of Occupation as the home papers have stated.

Some of my BALL FRIENDS have arrived lately on this side of the pond to reap the harvest. COBB AND MATHEWSON have commissions in the Chemical Branch.

Just a suggestion. How would two service stripes look under Mil's and my star on your flag. You have seen them, like a Corporal's chevron turned upside down, gold with a khaki background. Also expect to see a khaki flag flying when I get home with a blue YD [Yankee Division] in it.

Wish you both a merry Xmas and be sure and write.
Love
Bootus
