EPILOGUE

We create a subjective sphere of consciousness

whenever we focus our attention on a visual object.

When found in Sacred Geometry,
Incunabula,
Epochal Images, &c,

visual forms occasionally realize
a sublime symmetry
that is beautiful.

Extensive gazing into the Daguerreotypes

within the Plate Box

has generated a sense of almost sacred beauty for me.

The images are a visual record
of a unique transition.

They record a profound symmetry of time & space
crossing a threshold
into the visual perception of our humanity.

Today, the ubiquitous human image floods our world.
It is hardly possible to imagine a time
when every portrait was imperfect and impermanent.

In the early autumn of 1839, at Washington Square in New York City,

Chemical science, and artistry with light of the Sun,

achieved and preserved the first exact portraits of the human face.

Inside this Plate Box,

remarkable moments of human history

wait to reenter the light.
